The Sun is Out, YEAH!!! - Sunday Lunch skater style

Can you believe after all the rain that yesterday the sun finally came out and it was a beautiful crisp sunny day. Not only time for Sunday lunch out but also an excuse to get out a dress and put away the jeans for a day, yeah!!!!

 

If in doubt about what to wear, you can not go far wrong by reaching for a skater dress, easy to wear and still bang on trend. Mine from Topshop was bought earlier this year but similar dresses are continually available on the highstreet as its proved to be such a successful style. Well worth the investment, it will take you right through to Spring and can be so versatile.

 

I've teamed mine here with some warm winter tights, a contrasting colour cardigan and my staple black suede shoe boots, warm and cosy while still feminine!

 

 Time to reach for the sunnies!

 

The weather was also a good excuse to get out my trusty Ray Bans, I've had these for over a year now and they've proved to be very invaluable, brilliant for driving as they are polarised.

 

Teamed with Lola Rose, as always!

 

With black and white I always like to add an accent colour with my accessorises. Here I'm wearing the Willa necklace and Beena ring, both from Lola Rose. I love the extra colour that the butter jade adds to the outfit. A red lipstick also works well with black and white, time to reach for the Chanel.

 

This is such a versatile look, there are so many possibilities to wearing the skater style dress just have fun with it, after all, it will probably be raining again tomorrow and back to the jeans!

Topshop 'hearts' Burberry!

One of this seasons biggest success stories in the world of fashion is Burberry's Heart Print Blouse. It's been seen worn by the likes of Victoria Beckham (she rarely puts a fashion foot wrong) and Harry Stiles of One Direction fame, I think I also spotted Abby Clancy wearing one on Strictly Come Dancing the other week!

 However, as much as we all might covert this lovely blouse, few of us can afford the £495 price tag! This is where the high street comes to the rescue in the form of Topshop. They have come up with a couple of similar tops that should satisfy our desire for something a little similar to Burberry's design but at a more reasonable price.

I managed to get hold of this raspberry heart print shirt from Topshop (above) but found it was too long for me. Instead, both my daughter Lisa and I were tempted by the short sleeved navy version on a recent shopping trip (we like to call it 'blog research') it was too nice to resist.

 

 

I've teamed it up with this lovely fluffy crop jumper, also from Topshop, £34. This jumper comes in some lovely colours including pastels, brights and black but I love the pale pink shade, it's snuggly and soft and is quickly becoming one of my favourites!

 

Jeans are River Islands 'Amelia' design, £40, which come in several lengths including short which is ideal for me.

This shirt should see you all through the winter with the help of a pretty jumper or cardigan, worn with jeans or a flippy skirt its very versatile. I don't think it will get consigned to the back of my wardrobe in the summer months either unlike a longer sleeved version.

Time to invest in some stylish winter woollens!

 Jumper from Next, £32

 

If, like me, you tend to revert to jeans this time of year it doesn't mean you can not style them up with a striking winter woollen. I have to walk Arthur every day so it's important to me to pick a practical outfit but that doesn't mean it has to dull! I love this winter knit from Next as it combines style with a touch of warmth. You could easily team it with a pair of leather look leggings for an evening feel but it works just as well with a pair of skinny jeans. Added to that, its really good value for money at £32 and also comes in a beige colour, do I really need another?

If you are after something a little bit special, look no further! Although this jumper from Jack Wills is a little bit on the expensive side, it feels soooo soft and cosy and I love this damson colour, it has quickly become one of my favourites and is perfect for accessorising! Don't be scared by the fact that its cashmere either, I've washed mine in my machine on a hand wash cycle (very scary!!!) and it doesn't appear to have suffered from the experience, unlike me who needed a glass of wine! This knit comes in 4 other beautiful shades including navy and fushia, but if it's a little too pricey then check out Jack Wills Berridge Merino Crew, at £49.50, still a little on the expensive side but just as lovely. I was lucky enough to be invited to the British Racing Drivers Club at Silverstone last weekend for the British Superbikes (a big THANK YOU, it was great!!!) and this jumper was exactly the right choice, smart, stylish and most importantly warm.

 

 

Topshop Lace Front jumper, £38

 

My final knit is this fun lace front jumper from Topshop. This feels almost as soft as the cashmere one and adds a bit of fun to what would normally be considered a boring practical jumper. This knit is ideal for looking good at a pub lunch after a long dog walk in the country at the weekend, one of my favourite pastimes at this time of year. This jumper is again very reasonable and comes in a cream and burgundy shade as well. Topshop are great for winter knits with a bit of a twist so certainly worth a visit.
